DMO–UKE Sicily Central is the only Italian Destination Management Organization formally led by a university as its institutional head partner. Established in March 2025 as an official Institutional Partnership (ATS), it brings together municipalities, cultural institutions and private stakeholders under the coordination of the University of Enna “Kore”.

The organization operates across inland Central Sicily, a territory characterized by UNESCO heritage, historic villages beyond mass tourism circuits, and a strong cultural identity rooted in Mediterranean history.

At ITB Berlin 2026, DMO–UKE presents a research-based model of destination governance that integrates academic expertise, institutional coordination and sustainable tourism development. The initiative promotes community-oriented tourism, territorial cohesion and long-term strategic planning supported by scientific methodologies.

The participation in the Pavilion Italy – ENIT represents a strategic step toward strengthening international partnerships, expanding trade relations and positioning Central Sicily as a distinctive cultural destination within the European and Mediterranean tourism landscape.
